40 Below was designed and built around one central purpose: to show you the current outdoor temperature in both Fahrenheit and Celsius. Many of us have friends, family, and coworkers who live in other countries, and the simplest form of chit-chat can have some friction when those relationships cross the F/C border. 40 Below cuts through all of that. With its prominent temperature reading front and center, you're always a moment away from being able to tell someone what the weather is like in a temperature scale they will understand.

International teams, travelers, ex-pats, and mixed-unit households alike will all find utility in this handy little weather app.

Additional, thoughtful features:

  • See the “feels like” temperature (also in ºF and ºC, funnily enough!)
  • Check the temperature forecast for the hours ahead so you can plan out your day
  • Share a beautifully rendered temperature card with or without your location

40 Below uses your location to show local conditions. You can control location access at any time in Settings.

40 Below was built with the latest and greatest Apple frameworks and technologies. Mac and iOS were each considered thoughtfully to ensure 40 Below feels right at home and behaves like it should - not like a port that simply checks a box.

  • Uses Apple’s own WeatherKit framework for timely, hyperlocal weather information.
  • Efficiently keeps itself up to date in the background so the latest temperature information is always available.
  • Integrates with Siri, Spotlight, and Shortcuts. Supports screen-free workflows whether your phone is in your pocket or connected to CarPlay. “Hey Siri, what’s the weather in 40 Below?” will give you local conditions in both Fahrenheit and Celsius.
  • Fully localized into 17 languages, with locale-aware layout: depending on your locale, 40 Below will prioritize Fahrenheit or Celsius in the UI.
  • Full accessibility support including VoiceOver navigation, Dynamic Type for increased text sizes, and high contrast and reduced motion support.
  • On macOS, 40 Below can run in the background as a menu bar app and will start at login, so it’s always there when you need it.
  • 40 Below for Mac and 40 Below for iOS share a common codebase, but each one is designed and purpose-built for their respective platforms, meaning you can expect a Mac experience on your Mac, and an iOS experience on your mobile devices.
